Why booking my trip with Immersion in Russia?


Immersion in Russia is a company registered in Russia, located in Moscow and founded by four friends (three French and one Russian) who are passionate about traveling, discovering new places and interacting with other cultures. In the last years our Team has been to many places in Russia, and now we want to share its hidden treasures with the rest of the world. Our ultimate goal is to break the barrier of expectations, stereotypes and prejudice (that are often negative or exaggerated) and to show real Russia. Our main objective is to provide our customers with an outstanding immersive travel experience in Russia. Besides showing the big cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, we want to make it easy for travelers to discover other regions of Russia, less popular, but full of hidden treasures: natural, cultural, historical…




What is usually included in our immersions?


Most of our immersions include the following: - Activities as described in our programmes - Accommodation (hotel, hostel, host family, shared flat, camping) - Guide (Russian native speaker, English speaking guide, other languages are available upon request) - Transportation and transfers during the immersions as stated in the programmes - Entrance fees for museums, other sights as described in our programmes - Meals (as described in our detailed programmes) - Visa support We kindly ask you to read our programmes carefully. We provide only those services that are described there. For example, airport transfers are not included, but we can always arrange it for you. Moreover, we reserve the right to slightly change the programmes depending on weather conditions and other grounds upon prior notification of you.




What kinds of accommodation are included in our immersions?


The types of accommodation are described in our programmes. We always endeavor to select accommodation for you on the basis of your requests and high quality standards including service, style, location, facilities. Comfort and satisfaction of our travelers is of the utmost importance to us. Please note that on some of our immersions to remote areas the number of accommodation options to choose from may be somehow limited.




Are flights included in the price?


Even though our immersions do not include international or domestic flights, our Team will be happy to help and advise on the best travel options for getting to and from Russia.




Who are the guides?


We, at Immersion in Russia, consider that a guide is a key element of any successful, fun and memorable travel experience. Our guides have the knowledge and high expertise of regions and activities they will take you to. Russian speaking guides also speak English (other languages are also available upon prior request) and they can provide all explanations in the language of your choice. Guides will make all logistical arrangements, take care of the translation when necessary, guide you and provide with explanations throughout the trips.




Can I extend my trip to Russia?


If needed we can always help you to extend your trip in Russia to give you a chance to discover unexplored areas or go further in your trip in Russia subject to your visa and other legislative requirements.




What is the size of your groups?


A group is usually comprised of 4-10 people. Immersion in Russia also can provide private small group immersions. Please kindly note that the price may change depending on the amount of travelers in a group. We recommend you to travel within a small group. This will allow to have deeper involvement in all activities and the Russian culture.




Who will be my fellow travelers?


Our groups might differ, but usually it is a combination of single travelers, couples and/or groups of friends.




Are there age restrictions in our immersions?


Age groups generally range from 18+ to 70+. The only restriction is that for traveling independently you must be at least 18 years of age. If you want to go on a family trip with young children, we recommend you to contact us prior to your booking, so we can provide you with the information on suitability of the immersion for young children.




Are single travelers charged a supplement for single occupancy?


Our price is usually based on cost for a double room. If you are traveling alone and do not mind sharing a room with another participant of the same gender, you will not be charged supplementary fees. If you would like to have your own private room throughout an immersion, we kindly ask you to inform us in advance as there may be a supplementary fee for single rooms.




How do I book online?


The Immersion in Russia website is designed to make booking as easy and smooth as possible. Click the “Book” button at the top (or at the bottom) of a page of a desired programme. Fill out the form with your information and type any questions you might have. Our Team will get back to you within 24 hours with answers to your questions and payment instructions.




Are all departure dates set or can I pick my own dates?


On most of our immersions there is a minimum number of 4 participants for a guaranteed departure. For more information on guaranteed departures and other departure date options, please contact our Team by filling in the online form or by sending an email to contact@immersion-in-russia.com.




Can I book extra nights of accommodation before and after my immersion?


We can arrange trip extensions before and/or after your immersion with Immersion in Russia subject to your visa and other legislative requirements. If you’re interested, you can contact our Team via the online form or by sending an email to contact@immersion-in-russia.com. We will revert to you with options and prices.




Can Immersion in Russia design an exclusive immersion according to my interests?


Immersion in Russia has a Team that can offer you different options of travelling in Russia in accordance with your interests and needs (adventure, sports, architecture, art, culture, history, nature, science, etc.). We will assist you with planning your trip taking into account your dreams, needs, interests.




What payment options are available?


Immersion in Russia accepts payment in EUR/USD/RUB via our payment agent Robokassa. As soon as we receive an immersion request, we will send to you the link for payment. On the payment page you will have different options, including by not limited to using credit or debit cards. For more information on the payments options, please feel free to contact us.




What should I pack for the trip I have booked?


Once your booking is confirmed, we will send you a pre-departure list that includes a packing list and recommendations for any other special items you may need to bring with you. If you have any questions, please contact our Team and we will be happy to help you with the preparation for your trip.




Can you help me with the Russian visa application?


For citizens of most countries a touristic visa is required for visiting Russia. Before filing a visa application form at the visa center of your country, you will need a visa support document (called “invitation letter”). Immersion in Russia can provide you with this document free of charge subject to booking an immersion with us. Once you receive this document, you will need to apply for a Russian visa at your local Russian consulate. Another option is to use the services of a visa agency in your country. Feel free to ask any questions related to the visa process. Our Team will help you if needed.




What kind of travel insurance do I need?


A comprehensive travel insurance specific to Russia is required before filing a visa application. In order to participate in our immersions you must have a proper insurance that covers all medical costs in case of hospitalization or other emergencies. Please contact our Team for more information.




Does my immersion finish at the same location where it starts?


Information about the start and the final locations is included in our programmes.




What if I need to cancel my trip?


If you need to cancel your trip please send us a cancellation notice by email to contact@immersion-in-russia.com including all your booking details as soon as you can. Immersion in Russia recommends you to purchase in advance a comprehensive travel insurance that covers your expenses in such case. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions or contact us for more information on our booking and cancellation policy.




Do I need to have basic knowledge of the Russian language?


Even though the majority of Russians can understand English to a certain extent, we recommend our customers to learn a few Russian phrases that may help them prepare for a trip and get a more immersive experience when being around locals.




Any tips on travel safety in Russia?


Despite many negative stereotypes about safety and security in Russia, it is actually safer to travel in Russia than in many other countries. Basic precautions should be applied like in any other countries. We recommend our customers to carry copies of their passport, visa and migration card at all times. In public places and transports please apply normal cautiousness as there may be pickpockets, just like in any other part of the world.




What is the weather like in Russia?


Immersion in Russia endeavors to make sure that the weather will be the best during every activity and immersion. In winter average temperatures usually range from -20°C to 0°C (depending on the region). January to March are some of the best months to visit winter Siberia with great snowfall, frozen lakes and rivers like Lake Baikal (when you can walk and even travel by car on its ice). In summer temperatures range from +15°C to +35°C depending on the region.




Will there be access to WI-FI in Russia?


Most accommodations have free WI-FI access. In restaurants and coffee shops, as well as in museums, free access to the Internet may be offered. Just keep in mind that when traveling to remote areas, access to the Internet will be limited or even not available.




Will my mobile network work in Russia?


Immersion in Russia suggests that you consider buying a local SIM-card to help keep your international roaming charges down. Our Team will advise where you can purchase local SIM-cards.




How much money do I need to have with me?


As previously explained, the most programmes already include fees for transportation, activities, accommodation, meals. Please read each programme carefully, because some services might not be included. We suggest you to bring your international credit/debit card. Most restaurants and shops accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express. ATMs are also available and a member of our Team will be able to direct you to the nearest ATM. Keep in mind that only rubles are accepted for payment throughout Russia.




What type of electrical plugs and adapters are used in Russia?


The typical two prongs round European outlets are used throughout the country.




What to do in the case of an emergency?


In the case of a medical emergency in remote areas, please contact ASAP your guide and a member of our Team. They will arrange the fastest and safest way to transport you to the nearest medical center. We recommend all participants to purchase a comprehensive travel insurance that covers different types of emergencies.
